Antequera is 1 hour north of Malaga in Southern Spain, and what a beautiful place.
I have never seen the Spanish countryside and I was very pleasantly surprised. The Hotel Convento Magdalena was tucked away in the hills and set in a really peaceful location. The hotel is a converted convent. The rooms were very spacious and the spa facilities were very welcome at the end of a day’s walk!
We could walk direct from the hotel and be in the Spanish mountains seeing beautiful views in no time. Our leader Bob Rogers was passionate about Spain and clearly enjoyed leading walks in the country that he loved.
On this trip you will visit the El Torcal Natural Park, which is a large area full of unusual limestone rock formations, which was fascinating. There was always something interesting to see on the walks, many beautiful flowers were in bloom, and every day we saw different types of birds.
There were 2 people within our group who were travelling with Ramblers Worldwide Holidays for the first time, and they found this tour to be an ideal first trip, as it was just 5 nights and was an ideal introduction to a walking tour. I would certainly recommend this trip and thoroughly enjoyed it myself.
