Joining Ramblers Walking Holidays for my first walking holiday was truly an amazing experience, for me personally, as I have never been on a 100% dedicated walking holiday before other than my regular golfing holidays. I found this holiday not only extremely enjoyable but deeply memorable for both me and my buddy, Habibah, who mooted the walking holiday idea. As it was her birthday, I reluctantly agreed to make the necessary arrangements and chose a destination that fitted both our schedules; but it turned out to be the best decision made for our holiday.
Ladis, Austria turned out to be an exceptionally wonderful holiday destination which, coupled with the company of caring fellow walkers in the group, added to the fond memory of this trip. Each day proved to be a new and exhilarating experience; from the beautiful flower meadows, challenging walking trails which provide close encounters with grazing cows, to snow capped mountains and panoramic lake views. The daily walking trails were caringly led by our very experienced guide Malcolm Little, for the “Group of 13 Walkers”, namely Gordon, Suzie, Richard, Kathleen, Sharon, Tony, Monica, Andy, Peter, Norman, Ann, Habibah & yours truly Donna. With nationalities ranging from Australian, Canadian, British and Malaysian, the holiday offered not only diversity, but also the vastly different backgrounds and travel experience that each generously shared and cared during the whole journey makes it a fondly memorable holiday for me and I am sure to the group as well.
Also, the five course meals served nightly at the Hotel Goies by Lady Barbara and her team were a gastronomical delight, as we were pampered with a notably different menu each day – served with such grandeur and passion. The highlight of each evening after our walks, were spa treatments and to unwind in the company of the group, and to share jokes and stories over pre-dinner drinks followed by a sumptuous dinner.
We were all truly blessed with the company of a veteran walker in our group who has been visiting Ladis for the last 15 years. Tony, you are my inspiration to continue walking! It is truly a great privilege to have walked with you in this holiday!
