Paul Sparrow was our gentle and conscientious guide for the five glorious days of walking the Shropshire hills, laden down with anoraks, waterproof trousers, hats and scarves – none of which were needed as we basked in warm spring sunshine.
Everyone seemed to be an authority on some aspect of our walk, and we had mini-lectures on geology, weather, maps, trees, wild flowers and scrabble!
There was only one disaster, when a complete sole fell off a shoe; but Paul was ready with sticking plaster and string, and the repaired walker survived the day.
We sampled pubs and tea-shops, and made the most of the good cooked breakfasts, packed lunches with home-made cakes and the bar with a view in our hotel.
We had a fashion show from the Canadian family, who were over in England to attend a wedding, and we ended with a games night.
I enclose some photos of a wonderful week.
