What a great time we had in the Scilly Isles: great food, great hotel, and great weather!
I travelled with Ramblers Worldwide Holidays by plane to the Island of St Mary, staying at the Hotel Atlantic. It’s a small, quiet hotel with lovely views of the sea.
We had a comfortable room with en-suite and breakfast was a full English with all diets catered for. In the evening we had a five course meal, consisting of two starters, a main course, sweet and then cheese, which you helped yourself to. There is pub located next door to the hotel, if you fancy a change from the hotel.
On the first morning we walked around St Marys seeing all the beautiful coastline, small boats, and pretty houses. We had our lunch at a local café, but you could buy sandwiches from the local Co-op – the prices being similar to those at home.
On the second day we went by ferry to Tresco and visited the beautiful gardens, which are famous for the unusual plants that grow in the climate. Lunch was at the local visitors centre, but again you could take your own lunch with you. Tresco is leased by the Duchy of Cornwall to the Dorian Smith family and you can find many time shares populating the small island.
All walks are led by a local guide and Ramblers Worldwide Holidays also have a leader with the group for the duration of the tour – unfortunately not enough time for us to see all five Islands!
I heard clients say they had been trying to do the tour for years and Ramblers Worldwide Holidays was the best value for money!!
