You can see Ibiza from here!

This is the crowning glory of the week! A bus journey to Valdemossa, from where we walked steeply uphill to join the ‘Archdukes Walk’. This walk may be at the very top of the grade but the scenery is more than worth the extra effort. I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

Return to Puerto de Soller

Majorca’s image as a holiday destination is usually that of a party island of sun, sea and sand. But there’s a very different side to it; on the north-west of the island, a beautiful mountainous hinterland runs parallel to coast and is fantastic country for walking. Gerry Carson found his second visit to be even better than his first.

A Week in Puerto de Soller

A memorable day was a route direct from our Hotel Marbell in Soller to the bay location of Cala Tuent. We set off on this particular day from the Port directly up into the hills and mountain hinterland of the NW region of Majorca up to a Mirador (viewing point) in fine weather as part of the C Grade walk for that day.

Puerto de Soller

The highlight for us was the landscape. Having avoided going to Mallorca for many years because lying on tourist beaches in the sun never appealed, we succumbed to the Ramblers Worldwide Holidays descriptions of walking in the Sierra de Tramuntana; and also to friends’ recommendations.
