The Great South Africa Journey
The rhythm of the train is picking up pace and the first rays of the African sun are flickering through chinks in the curtains of this comfortable cabin on the Good Hope Express, the “Shongololo”. Through the window the new day brings a shining panorama of immaculate dark green citrus groves and plantation crops studded with sky blue flowers on the Jacaranda trees.
Trails of the Old Transvaal
Just returned from our third trip to South Africa in 18 months – a wonderful country of wide open spaces, a great variety of scenery and wildlife, and friendly people. The tour started off well with a friendly face to meet us at the airport – Chris Beattie, now a Ramblers Worldwide Holidays’ leader, whom we had met when he joined our last tour for a few days to get a feel for leading.
