Not only is John Carter – former presenter of TV’s ‘Wish You Were Here’ – one of the doyens of the travel writing fraternity but a great pasta maker to boot!
He had the opportunity to hone his culinary skills on a Ramblers Worldwide Holidays visit to the Hotel Giardini in San Marcello, Tuscany under the benevolent eye of chef Cinzia who runs cookery classes at the hotel.
John who had been commissioned by the Mail on Sunday to write an article on the region was escorted by Tony Maniscalco – PR Manager for RWH who also brushed up his home-made pasta skills.
Delectable Pappa Al Pomodora, Ribollita and Ravioli were masterfully created by both John and Tony but the latter had slight misgivings. “Don’t tell my wife”, he said, “as I might end up doing all the cooking in future !”
The combination of walking in some of Tuscany’s most beautiful countryside and fun-filled cookery classes makes for a truly great holiday.
