This was one of Ramblers Worldwide Holidays’ new “duel leader” trips – and I have to say that the two leaders, Eileen and Paul, were excellent, as was the hotel and walking in the area. I kept to the higher grade C/C+ walks, and these opened up some fantastic high-level, alpine scenery.
Although the weather wasn’t brilliant on every day, we managed to cover a lot of ground – literally! – and experienced all four seasons. From blue skies and warm sunshine up in the mountains overlooking the Stubai Glacier and surrounding area, to being up in snow and ice and with our heads, literally, in the clouds on other days.
This was a great holiday, and offers a lot to anyone who likes mountain walking combined with bits of scrambling over interesting and often picturesque terrain. And, of course, the D/D+ option also provided more leisurely walks through equally stunning scenery. So both groups enjoyed a wide variety of nice walks in superb clean air, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
